Where This Site Came From
A straightforward explanation of why this resource exists and what we're trying to do with it.
The Problem We Noticed
Business credit is genuinely confusing. Not because it's complicated at its core, but because most of the information available about it comes from companies that want to sell you something. Credit monitoring subscriptions. Credit building programs. Paid consultations.
That's not a conspiracy. It's just how the market works. But it means that a small business owner who simply wants to understand how their D&B report is generated, or why their PAYDEX score is what it is, often has to wade through a lot of promotional material to find a straight answer.
We wanted to create a place where that straight answer was just... there. No signup required. No upsell. Just the information.
What We Actually Do
We read the public documentation. D&B publishes documentation about their scoring models. Experian publishes white papers on Intelliscore Plus. Equifax publishes descriptions of their business credit products. The SBA has guides. The FTC has fact sheets. The IRS explains EINs. This information exists in public form.
We read it, organize it, and explain it in plain language. When something is ambiguous or subject to change, we say so. When we're not sure, we say that too.
We don't interpret the information as financial advice. We don't tell you what to do with it. We explain what the bureaus say about themselves and how the systems work based on their own descriptions.
We cite public documents, not opinions.
No accounts, no fees, no subscriptions.
We don't offer credit repair or advice.
Bureau documentation changes. We try to keep up.

Who Maintains This
This site is maintained by a small team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. We're not credit professionals. We're people who went looking for plain answers about business credit, didn't find them easily, and decided to compile what we learned into a format that might be useful to others.
If you find an error, an outdated reference, or something that could be explained more clearly, the contact page is open. We appreciate corrections.
